Sunbury Shores Art Show – Re-cap of opening night

What a great opening night! The staff and volunteers at Sunbury Shores Art and Nature Centre are fantastic.  I thought I would share some of the pictures from that night, I had such a great time. It was wonderful seeing such a big turn out and getting to speak with friends, family, and new acquaintances. Between the sales and the great company, it was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who attended, to my new collectors. Last but not least thank you to Claire and Janie, you have been awesome to work with.

Sunbury Shores has and an online shop where you can view the watercolor batiks in my show, it will be up until the end of the show – View Show

My Favourite Part of Summer – Rice Paper and Watercolor

Flowers are the thing I look forward to the most in the spring and summer, they always brighten my day. It all starts early in the spring when I go out to the garden every morning to see how things are growing and year after year I am excited to see the first few plants starting to push through the earth.
These next paintings are inspired from these moments and feelings.
I hope they brighten your day! Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Hanging Out To Dry – Latest Rice Paper Paintings by Krista Hasson

Krista Hasson's rice paper paintings hanging to dry
Here is a peek behind the scenes, these paintings all just had another layer of paint and are now drying. They are not finished yet still a few more layers to go.
Recently I have taken a little vacation from painting, I find that I always need a break after getting ready for a big show. Now I am planning for a spring group show at the Gainsborough Gallery in Calgary and working on my show in September at the Saint John Art Centre. I will post the finished paintings when they are finished.
Feels great to be painting again!

Take Care,

Fall Shadows Watercolor on Rice Paper by Krista Hasson

“Fall Shadows”  Watercolor on Rice Paper
30×30″ by Krista Hasson

This is one on my latest paintings. It is 30″ x 30″ , this is the largest I have ever worked with the rice paper. I liked working big, for some reason I found it easier to keep it simplified, I was worried it would be the opposite. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Red Poppy Watercolor Painting on Rice Paper by Krista Hasson

“Poppy”  16×20″
Watercolor on Rice Paper by Krista Hasson

This is one of the latest paintings I have finished. It is 16×20 and done with watercolor on rice paper. I have been painting non stop lately it seems : ) I love it! It leaves little time for other things, hopefully now that summer is over I will have some time to catch up on my blogging. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

Daffodil Delight! Watercolor painting on rice paper

I have finished many new paintings lately, I have not had a lot of computer time as I am getting ready for many upcoming events. This watercolor on rice paper is 18 x 26″ . I find posting these on blogger really dulls the color down, I saturated this a bit more hoping it will be closer to the real life version. I hope everyone has been well and are being creative! : )   Have a great night.

Spring Thaw – Birch Tree Painting Watercolor on Rice Paper

Spring Thaw 14×20″
Watercolor on Rice Paper by Krista Hasson

Here is one of the paintings finished, still working on the other 4. I have been very busy, hoping to get them all finished up soon. This one is 14×20″. The painting is actually a little more saturated in real life. I find that when I post them on blogger it always dulls the color down some.
Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend!

Just Removed the Wax off of 5 more Watercolor Landscape Paintings

So this is what happens after I remove the wax, I attach them to a board so I can set them in my front room. I will look at these for a few days, figuring out what I want to change or touch up (or not) then I will adjust, and go through the process again. When I am completely done I will take individual pictures and post them. Have a great night everyone!

3rd Landscape on Rice Paper – Watercolor Painting

This is the last one of the 3 I just finished, it is 12×24″ and watercolor on rice paper. I can not believe how excited I get about these paintings. I don’t think I will ever be able to paint realism again lol. Oh and again I have no name : ( . I also just finished drawing out 5 more in various sizes, and can’t wait to start them. Hope everyone is having a great day. Happy painting!
