Day 10 sunflower 7, day 11 morning glory 2 and meet Charlie

I am posting day 10 and 11 together in hopes of catching up ūüôā¬† I would have been up to date on my painting if I hadn’t scraped all of the paint off of my painting last night. It was just not working, sometimes you just have to walk away lol.

So why am I am behind a day in painting and 2 for posting? Well we have adopted a new cat (Charlie) and he is not fitting, he is a bit of a bully with my other cat and dog. He is the sweetest cat with people.

Meet Charlie! Look at that face! A little angel (when he is asleep lol) I sure hope he starts to be more tolerant of sweet Theo my other cat. If anyone has any advice on how to make him stop attacking Theo I would love to hear it :). I have read everything I can find online and have not found anything that is making the situation better :(.

“Poppies and Lupines” is¬†my painting for day 8 of the challenge. I am starting the second week off with one that is a bit bigger ( 8×8″ ) I really like the looseness of this. Yesterday’s painting was a bit more on the detailed side and that’s¬†OK I liked it as well.

White Trillium oil painting ‚Äď Day 7 of the 30 day daily painting challenge

Wow hard to believe we are a week into the challenge already. For day 7 I have painted a white Trillium, I love the thick impasto that I have added to this little painting.

There is nothing like going for a walk in the woods early spring and having the floor of the forest carpeted with these, it is breathtaking. Thanks for stopping in I hope you enjoy this little piece of spring :).

Pink Coneflowers Day 2 in the 30 paintings in 30 days Challenge

Strangely this painting does not seem loose to me. Maybe it is just not as loose as I want or maybe I need to practice economy of brush strokes instead. I am not sure. I really love the flower on the back left-hand side (it is loose and painted¬†with fewer strokes) and the thick juicy paint makes me happy lol. See what did I tell you, I am already learning ūüôā That is the best part of these challenges.

30 paintings in 30 days February 2018 Challenge

It is that time again ūüôā This year it is starting on Feb first instead of the usual January. It is a great way to start the year off right and I am excited to do it. If you would like to give it a try go to Leslie Saeta’s site here: https://www.saetastudio.com/30-in-30.html

This year I am going to focus on trying to paint as loose as I can with nice thick juicy paint (not an easy feat for me) and I am going to post them no matter what lol. You learn so much from painting small paintings every day and you make lots of mistakes which actually leads to even more learning (love it!). So here we go, this is day one from yesterday! Let me know what you think. #30paintingsin30days

Impressionistic Oil Paintings with Glowing Color - Learning New Techniques

As an artist I love to try new materials and new techniques, even if I don’t end up using them I still learn. I love seeing how other artists that inspire me paint and create. I love Dreama Tolle-Perry’s Impressionistic Oil Paintings¬†( #lovedreampaint ). I always thought that some day I would like to take a workshop from her but they always sold out quickly. She recently started teaching courses online. I could not resist, I signed up in Sept 2016. I enjoyed her format and all the love and effort that clearly went into her classes. You can tell it gives her joy to paint and she loves passing that along through her teaching and writing. Her class was worth every penny ūüôā Below are the paintings I created in her workshop. You can¬†learn more about Dreama here: http://dreamatolleperry.com/

30 small daily oil paintings in 30 days Starting Sept. 1st

30 small daily oil paintings

All setup and ready to go for day one of 30 daily oil paintings in 30 days! Starts Tomorrow.

I am doing 30 small daily oil paintings in 30 days again!  Starting Sept. 1st, 2016. I had so much fun doing the last challenge. I was so excited when I heard Leslie Saeta was doing the 30 in 30 challenge again. I recommend anyone who paints should do this challenge. I learned so much the first time and it gives you a chance to explore other subject matter without making a huge commitment.

I am going to try to stick to a theme for this one. I was out this morning snipping a beautiful little pink coneflower (see picture above. My Favourite Part of Summer ‚Äď Rice Paper and Watercolor

Flowers are the thing I look forward to the most in the spring and summer, they always brighten my day. It all starts early in the spring when I go out to the garden every morning to see how things are growing and year after year I am excited to see the first few plants starting to push through the earth.
These next paintings are inspired from these moments and feelings.
I hope they brighten your day! Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Small Reminder‚Äď6 x 6‚ÄĚ Cone Flower Acrylic Painting by Krista Hasson

6x6 rns web
Every year I put art into a local art show / fundraiser at RNS. This year they decided to do a table with small artwork for $100. I though I would try something different as it would be too costly to do the rice paper and watercolor by the time you frame and pay them their consignment. This is very loose and it was fun to do. I collaged the background to get texture and them at the very end I added thicker paint to help my flowers come forward.

Hanging Out To Dry ‚Äď Latest Rice Paper Paintings by Krista Hasson

Krista Hasson's rice paper paintings hanging to dry
Here is a peek behind the scenes, these paintings all just had another layer of paint and are now drying. They are not finished yet still a few more layers to go.
Recently I have taken a little vacation from painting, I find that I always need a break after getting ready for a big show. Now I am planning for a spring group show at the Gainsborough Gallery in Calgary and working on my show in September at the Saint John Art Centre. I will post the finished paintings when they are finished.
Feels great to be painting again!

Take Care,

I have finished many new paintings lately, I have not had a lot of computer time as I am getting ready for many upcoming events. This watercolor on rice paper is 18 x 26″ . I find posting these on blogger really dulls the color down, I saturated this a bit more hoping it will be closer to the real life version. I hope everyone has been well and are being creative! : )   Have a great night.
