My subject matter comes from the natural world surrounding us. It is an expression that transcends beyond just painting beautiful pictures. It is being able to convey my overwhelming inspiration. The feeling of being part of something bigger, and my deep connection with nature.
I work with watercolor on rice paper, using wax as a resist. The wax creates a visual texture. The rice paper paired with the transparent watercolor allows the light to glow from within. I think it is my process people are most interested in. They are curious about how I achieve the final results. The dark veins of texture travel throughout the work to create a distinct portrait of nature.
